smoothie bases

Smoothie Liquid Bases we love to use!

Being creatures of habit we tend to stick to what we like or what we are use too. Like exercise its always a good idea to change things up, experiment and find new ways to challenge us physically and mentally. This stops us from getting bored and keeps our bodies stimulated!

Its always a good idea to experiment with your smoothie ingredients and bases to ensure you are getting a variety of vitamins and nutrients. Rotating your fruits and vegetables and experimenting with different bases will also keep your taste buds tantalised!

Coconut Water – Is light, refreshing and perfect for Green Smoothies. Is free from fat, preservatives, additives and cholesterol. It’s high in potassium and electrolytes perfect for hydrating after a workout while avoiding the high sugar content of most sports drinks. We love Jt’s Coconut Essence

Almond Milk – Is a creamy lactose free alternative to dairy milk. It is a great source of Vitamin B, D and E. Its easy to digest, low glycemic and won’t spike your blood sugars. Opt for organic brands like Pure Harvest with no added sugar.

Coconut Milk – Is what I like to use for a desert type decadent smoothie. Coconut milk is also lactose free. Coconut Milk as Lauric Acid which has antibacterial and anti fungal properties. Promotes healthy skin and nails. it also contains medium chain-saturated fatty acids that may improve heart health. Although a good fat coconut oil is high in calories and should be used in moderation. We like to use  Quench by Pure Harvest or preservative free Ayam Coconut Milk.

Cashew Milk – You will be amazed at how easy cashew milk is to make and how delicious it is! Once again its a dairy free alternative to cows milk. It contains nutrients such as Vitamin K and magnesium. It is super easy to make click here to see my daughter Jamey blending up a batch!
