Most of us will have been told that breakfast is “the most important meal of the day”. And it’s true! As that sun comes up (or when we get out of that warm bed) our bodies are begging to end the fasting that went on as we slept.

 

As an adult, it’s our responsibility to provide ourselves (and if you’re a parent – the ones you love) with the high quality nutrition we all need to kick start the day. Making sure you eat a healthy breakfast really will give you the best possible start to your day.

 

So why is healthy breakky important? Eating right will immediately raise the energy levels of your body and as a result, will increase vigor and vitality. It also helps control appetite, which over the long-term, can significant reduce body fat. Yup – eating a big, healthy breakfast in the morning can help you lose weight. Cool right?

 

And did you know that a good breakfast also enhances brain function and concentration? The benefits of healthy eating in the morning are huge, but healthy routine is not just all about food.

 

A Good Healthy Morning Routine starts with

Oral hygiene

Using a tongue scraper (some toothbrushes have them on the flipside) before you brush your teeth in the morning, will remove that yucky buildup of bacteria and toxins on the tongue which cause bad breath, and getting rid of that means fewer toxins are absorbed into your body, boosting your immunity. Cleaning your tongue on a daily basis can also help reduce food cravings, reenergize your taste buds heighten taste sensations.

 

Oil Pulling with coconut oil is great to naturally whiten teeth and remove, microorganisms and toxins that can lead to poor health. Simply take 1 tablespoon of coconut oil and swish around in your mouth, sip or suck through your teeth for 15-20 minutes before spitting out. This must be done on an empty stomach and remember not to swallow the oil as it will have become toxic.

 

Brush your teethbefore you drink or eat breakfast as it removes plaque before you ingest sugars, acidic foods and beverages. This will help to avoid tooth erosion.

 

Hydration

Drinking a big glass of warm lemon water and a dash of Apple Cider Vinegar before breakfast will re-hydrate and detox your body, stimulate your digestive system, reduce inflammation and acidity, reduces sugar cravings and assists in fat loss.
